The trio Yuji Uragami, Gunjo, and Satomi Toma base their signature work on a rhythmic tap dance style originating from black folk culture. Their unique “percussive dancing” style is difficult to pin down into just one genre, but the group’s foundation is inspired by ballet, jazz and soul, and breakdance. Performing live in clubs, on stage, appearing in films and TV commercials, and active in a variety of other fields, the group continues to express modern tap-dance by improvising performances with musicians, combining elements of music, rhythm, step, beat, and dance.
